Hey Harpooners!
Way to tackle a new movement with supreme determination and hard work! That was a super FUN open workout, and we are so proud of how each and every one of you did! You have until Monday at 8pm to submit your score at games.crossfit.com if that’s something you wish to do! All scores up until this point have been validated.
This week’s TEAM winner was: “Bottom of the Squat, Top of the Box” with Matt B, Rob S, Brendan and Liz! THREE of these peeps FINISHED the workout AND two of these peeps are total newbs to The Open!
If you care on how it was scored, you got a total rep count of 605 if you finished. I also awarded a 50 point bonus in this week for those that finished because it was SUCH a huge accomplishment to do so. This team scored a total of 2244!
Second place goes to Team “TBD” Lauren, Alyssa, Cat & Katey with a score of 1447
This week, I want to talk about compounding effort, as it only seems timely in relation to seeing Double Unders in this week’s Open workout.
In last week’s newsletter from James Clear, he said:
‘Repetition unlocks value.
The value of your first workout increases the more you exercise.
The value of your first article increases the more you write.
The value of your first conversation increases the longer you stay in the relationship.
Day One continues to compound.’
This got me thinking specifically about wellness and our efforts at Harpoon:
Repetition unlocks value:
The value of doing double unders in a workout increases the more you struggle in workouts “that don’t matter”.
The value of your healthy habits increase the moment you choose to start.
The value of preparing meals increases the moment your week gets ahead of you.
The value of your first lift increases the more years you stay lifting.
The value of your first weekend getting outside increases the moment you choose to make it a hobby.
The value of your first conversation increases the longer you stay committed to the same gym.
Day One continues to compound.
What other things are you more than happy you tackled head on even though the first few steps were scary?
