Week TWO and a DEEP reflection on how far we have come has now come and gone. All current score submissions have been validated. You have until 9pm Monday tonight to finalize any submissions through the Games site. From your leadership team, we ARE SO PROUD of how many of you pushed your own perceived ability in this workout. We’ve never had so many RX an Open workout AND we’ve never had this many people finish. You all should be really proud of where you’re at!

This week’s TEAM winner was:  The Flossy B$tches (Josh, Morgan, Caelin, Kris). They are also now in first place overall with a total score of 4 points.

Second place goes to This is Terrible Keep Going (Andrew, Nick, Matt A & Trip). This team really stepped up to the plate this week! They are also now in second place overall with 6 points.

The Open has a way of bringing up feelings, good and bad, large or small. The Open gives us a chance to reflect on what we’ve been doing and where we’re going next. It provides a benchmark in our fitness to see if “we are getting better.” It’s the annual exam in the classroom of health and wellness.

But with all the emotional roller coasters that surround performance, The Open is also an incredible way to analyze where your LIFE is. There are few times in life where you get to hit the pause button and make decisions on where to go next. Think of The Open instead of “The New Year” for your annual fitness journey.

Did you fare poorly in the retest of 17.1? BUT, is your regular life outside of CrossFit in better “shape” than it was in 2017? Do you spend more time with your kids, parents or friends? Are you able to DO MORE with your loved ones than you could four years ago? Do you make better decisions about what to eat and what to drink?

Better markers for wellness are sleep quality, energy throughout the day, ability to do one’s hobbies, quality of time spent with family, but you can certainly look at the movements that have come up in this open as an additional marker of whether or not you’re progressing in the sport of CrossFit. If you weren’t great in this workout because of the burpees but the snatches were good, it’s an easy marker to tell you where to focus your energy next.

If your lifestyle isn’t great AND you don’t like how this Open is shaping up for you, now is the opportunity to ask yourself some really hard questions: Am I pushing myself to my own ability day in and day out? Am I scaling too much? Am I doing “what’s comfortable” too often and not trying new progressions? Am I working out too much? Too little? How’s my diet? Can I get more sleep? Are there other things that I can do to balance my life more?

If you’re stuck in reflection mode and can’t quite clear the feeling of you messed up somewhere along the way, your entire Leadership Team is here to help you get back on track. Just say the word, and we can help you build a plan to a better you.
