THANK YOU for all of your effort in the outdoor redesign! We’re super excited to continue to be able to offer these outdoor workout spots, so thank you for helping us pull the space together quickly! As a reminder, these will now run concurrently to regular classes. Reservations are still required.
As we settle into the spring routine of fitness, an altered way of life and a promising future, it’s time we revisit what we believe in here at CrossFit Harpoon.
Our mission is to offer you a healthy habits blueprint for you to adapt and change to best fit your needs. It’s a process, an instruction manual on how to choose the active life and set you up for years of longevity and wellness. What we are offering you is a synergistic approach to a healthier way of life.
Day in and day out, we strive to teach you more than movement: We educate on exercise, yes, but also mindfulness, nutrition, relationships and overall wellness. Some of it is an altered way of thinking while more of it is a process for better daily choices, providing more confidence, healthier relationships and a different way of thinking about health.
There’s no “right” way, but we are going to do our best to avoid the pitfalls. We are going to help separate you from the destructible lifelong habits that we started sometime ago and have somehow anchored into our life.
No matter which way you find the most effective, know that you’re choosing an incredible community of support with great coaches who will help you on every step of the way. Do what you can do. Make yourself proud.
We believe that Harpooners do their best to be the best versions of themselves. Here are a few things that help us get it right:
The Harpoon Creed:
- We talk before, during and after class, often in close physical proximity (ahem 6 feet or more right now) to one another but we also aren’t too proud to shout across the room.
- When we talk to one another, we look each other in the eye, and pay attention—our phones are left in the cubbies in the front and we genuinely focus on what is being said.
- We often talk with high levels of enthusiasm with lots of questions but few interruptions.
- We share stories, long and short, past and present, because we feel like the more we share, the more we can connect.
- We embrace handshakes, fist bumps and hugs (when COVID isn’t a thing), and every once in a while a swift kick in the rear end.
- We aren’t afraid of praise as well as constructive criticism: we enjoy being taught as well as sharing our knowledge with others.
- We respect each other’s journey, knowing that where we are today isn’t a direct indicator of where we could be tomorrow.
- We laugh, sometimes too much, and connect through our general sense of humor.
- We pay it forward through small, attentive courtesies such as helping clean up stations (and waiting for others to finish before we clean up), opening doors for the next person coming in or bringing someone a PVC.
- We find ourselves lingering in conversation for a little too long after class, inventing excuses for us to attend more Harpoon outings and spend more time with the people we have learned to invest in.
- We trust that the experience far outweighs the instant results, knowing that hard work pays off.
- We believe the family, however big, small or chosen, is the cornerstone to a happy, healthy life, and we will do our best to help your family live their healthiest life.
